I've had a busy year thus far. When work returned in January through to February 27th, my main professional endeavor was shipping the video game "SubMerged", now available to Sprint customers, and coming soon to AT&T.

On February 9th, my wife and I held our reception. Wonderful to celebrate the occasion of our marriage and to see so many wonderful friends and family.

Based on "SubMerged" making its carrier submission date 2 weeks early and the perceived 'good' job I'm doing on the 3 (secret) games I am currently running -- I earned a promotion from Associate Producer to full Producer this month.

It was kind of anti-climatic as a few people spoiled my Boss's chance of surprise, but it still felt nice to have done the work worthy of being recognized and then having that recognition given.

Thinking back to late '95 to early '96, I worked with a cool guy named Paul who gave me some tips about getting into video game focus groups -- which he had been doing. One of the sessions I attended led to getting the inside info on going to work at SEGA as Contract Tester.

I worked the plan he told me, scheduling a date at the San Mateo based temp agency ADIA with Debbie Matano. This led to my interview at SOA with Rick Greer, Jeff Loney and Abe Navarro. Thank goodness those dudes saw fit to bring me into the fold. They opened me into the game development world, and I would never be the same.

SEGA was my ultimate favorite game developer! They made tons of my all-time favorite arcade games, plus I had all their US consoles. To get paid (well) to work there, to learn and play with a great group of buddies and co-workers and ultimately to come away from the experience with a key, that to this day still opens doors was an enormous blessing.

Working in and out of video game development and comic books, plus going to college and earning my degrees... and 12 years later I've come full circle. For sure, there were some bumps along the road. But to have learned the industry from the inside out and to have climbed the ladder -- Temp Tester, Core Tester, Perm Tester, Jr. Assistant Producer, Associate Producer to full Producer. I've worked with a lot of incredible guys to have been able to earn this the right way.

Bottom line is, I feel like Alice coming out of the Rabbit Hole. From that first conversation with my co-worker Paul at MBE, I've come full circle from being a Wanderer to being a Conductor. ^__^
